2022 Toyota GR 86 Reminds Us That Affordable Fun Exists

While it's not entirely new, the GR 86's larger engine and revised chassis are more than enough to keep us happy.

By David Beard | Aug 17, 2021 | Car and Driver
A car like the Toyota GR 86 isn't supposed to happen in this age of SUVs and electrification. Small and affordable coupes like the rear-drive GR 86 are pretty much dead. And yet Toyota has just refreshed its almost one-of-a-kind sports car, and it isn't just good, it's great.

We adore high-powered coupes such as the 760-hp Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, but more than often…

Tested: 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road Trades On-Road Manners for Off-Road Chops

By: Maxwell Mortimer, Photos by Marc Urbano | June 15, 2021 | caranddriver

The TRD Off-Road trim brings knobby tires, rugged outdoor looks, and a retuned suspension to Toyota's bestselling crossover.

For the average person, the 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road strikes a great balance between grocery getter and two-track champion. As a crossover, it's fundamentally optimized for the rigors of the paved world, but its rugged looks promise a vehicle that would hold its own if you took it mudding alongside a Wrangler Rubicon. Americans' interest in adventure...

Sean Szymkowski | July 13, 2021 | RoadShow

Today, its about the interior again and the brand showed off a fan-favorite feature that will stick around for the new pickup: the power rear window.

Yes indeed, the 2022 Tundra's rear glass will open for maximum airflow as this type of function becomes increasingly uncommon in new vehicles. In addition to the power rear window, at least some form of…

2022 Toyota Tundra Could Have a Hybrid V-6 Engine

By Connor Hoffmen, June 15, 2021, CarandDriver

We expect Toyota's new iForce Max hybrid drivetrain to use either a twin-turbo or naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6.

  • Toyota shared an image of the new Tundra's engine cover, which shows three intake runners per side.
  • We think it suggests a hybrid setup with a V-6 gas engine, either twin-turbocharged or naturally aspirated.
  • The 2022 Tundra will debut soon, and it should go on sale in the U.S. by the end of the year.

Toyota will debut the new Tundra full-size pickup truck later this year, and we've already…

Toyota debuts the new road-focused 2022 4Runner TRD Sport

By Kyle Hyatt | June 1, 2021 | ROADSHOW

It shares the Limited trim's X-REAS suspension and gets 20-inch wheels.

People love Toyota's 4Runner SUV. I mean, it's rugged, super capable off-road, has epic resale value and looks the business. But on the flip side, it's also ponderous on-road, thirsty, old and expensive to buy (new or used). Toyota has taken a stab at mitigating some of those negative things by offering the 4Runner in more configurations than you can shake a stick at, and according to an announcement made on Tuesday, it's about to get another…

Toyota Teases Pair of Mysterious Tacoma Pickups

Is this a preview of what's to come with the hardcore Tacoma TRD Pro?

Alexander Stoklosa- Author; Manufacturer - Photographer | May 24, 2021 | Motortrend

It is now an annual expectation that Toyota updates the TRD Pro versions of its Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, and Sequoia off-road trucks and SUVs. Typically, these changes are minor (a new paint color here, a new snorkel intake there), so we're not going to read too much into Toyota's release of two photos depicting what appear to be the front wheels of two separate Tacoma pickups. Or should we?
